5.5kW Borehole Solarization in Gatundu, Kenya
In Gatundu, MySolar was tasked with designing and installing a comprehensive solar water pumping solution for a private client. The project involved not only powering a borehole but also addressing the need for water storage and efficient energy use to ensure consistent water supply for their home and small-scale farm.
The Challenge
- Provide a reliable power source for the borehole to ensure uninterrupted water access.
- Construct water storage infrastructure to store sufficient water for domestic and farming needs.
- Design a solar panel structure that maximized space and efficiency.
Solution and Results
To meet the client’s needs, we installed a robust solar-powered borehole system. The project included a 3-meter high solar structure supporting 15 solar panels of 550W each, providing 5.5kW of clean energy to power the water pump. In addition, a 9-meter water tower was constructed to hold two 10,000-liter water storage tanks, ensuring ample water storage for the household and farm. This design provides reliable water access while reducing reliance on the national grid, offering long-term cost savings and sustainability.
